UNREST of the Ferals Rules:

Welcome to UNREST. Please read and follow the rules below and acquaint yourself with the consequences for any rule-breaking. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you in the story!

1. No Perfect Characters allowed. This goes for good and bad characters. If your character can’t fail, then they cannot exist in UNREST. Period. Characters that fit this description will receive a warning to complete a failure RP or have a flaw cause them to fail in story or be moved to the Deceased Characters Folder. If a player doesn’t comply within the three month period the warning was issued, the character moves to the Deceased Characters Folder and all points for the character will be reset to zero and cannot be used.

2. No Godmodding/Power Play allowed. Don’t go bossing someone around or forcing a story. If a character doesn’t want to interact the way you want, just have your character retreat; don’t write in the other character’s responses or actions into your RP. That isn’t RPing, that’s forcing a storyline. This is considered harassment and is not tolerated here at UNREST. You will be removed as a member for participating in this or a complaint is filed against you for this activity and it turns out to be true.

3. No harassment of others allowed. Any harassment is not to be tolerated. If we get a report from a member that another member has said something derogatory about the player or their style of writing or their choice of character personality/story, YOU WILL BE REMOVED AND YOU CANNOT REJOIN AGAIN. Period. We may also check previous RP behavior before considering your application to join. If you have a pattern of harassment in previous groups, you will not be accepted into the group.

4. No use of bases or direct references without proper citations. This is a serious issue to many artists and we will take this seriously too. IF YOU ARE FOUND TO HAVE USED A BASE/LINEART/BACKGROUND WITHOUT CREDITING YOU WILL BE REMOVED WITHOUT NOTICE. Your characters will all die and you will be allowed to rejoin ONLY after a 12 month cooling off period. Many artists become hurt or angry when their art is used without credit, so please be sure to fill in all the blanks. As a reminder, you may not use bases/lineart from another individual in order to earn Trinkets. The only backgrounds you may use to earn Trinkets are those supplied by admins for the group. Be sure you credit the right admin in your description.

5. No plagiarism/art theft. Again, serious business. DO NOT TAKE SOMEONE ELSE’S WORK AND CHANGE A LITTLE BIT AND CALL IT YOUR OWN. Just no. You will be auto-removed and your characters will all die for this one also. You can only rejoin after a 12 month cooling off period. This goes for both written and art pieces. The original artist will also be notified if they have not found the violation themselves first.

6. Comment Abuse. There’s a right and wrong way to comment. Comments left to other members that are considered spam or spam-like will result in Follower point deduction as well as Shrapnel deductions with a warning. Please don’t spam your fellow players! Comments should be thoughtful and encouraging, not silly and out of place.

7. No pornographic RPs or art. This is self explanatory especially since it is against the website’s Terms of Service. Anyone posting this will receive a warning as well as a direct report of the violation to DA. You will be removed permanently with your characters going into the Deceased Characters Folder as well as be reported to DA.

8. No Flaming. Again, this is in violation of the website’s Terms of Service. Anyone caught flaming any other user will be removed permanently with your characters going into the Deceased Characters Folder as well as be reported to DA.

9. Non-compliant changes to characters. You will lose all of your Follower points and 10% of your Shrapnel/Trinkets for a first offense. You will need to revert your character to continue play as a freeze on your earnings will be made and you will not be allowed to use any of your points until the non-compliant changes are removed. Repeat offenders who are non-compliant with their changes three times will have the character in question moved to the Deceased Characters Folder and be advised they can no longer use this character in the RP. All points will be lost. Please remember that all changes must be approved first before you can go through with them.

10. Not approved wounds/injuries. You will lose all of your Follower points and 20% of your Shrapnel for a first offense. You will need to revert your character to continue play as a freeze on your earnings will be made and you will not be allowed to use any of your points until the wounds/injuries are removed. Please remember that moderate-severe injuries or wounds should be approved first before being applied to your character. Minor cuts/wounds that are easy to heal do not need approval unless your character suffers enough of them to be considered a moderate level of injury. Repeat offenders who are non-compliant with their changes three times will have the character in question moved to the Deceased Characters Folder and be advised they can no longer use this character in the RP. All points will be lost.

11. Not participating in a Special Event in the role assigned. This is determined by a random assignment, so please do not take offense if your character is chosen to be sick. If you really don’t want to take on your role, you may ask your admin for a new role, but you will not earn Shrapnel for your participation (though you will still gain your green activity bullet for the event) It’s important that everyone be willing to take on all roles in the story, as this keeps characters from becoming perfect or invincible. Should you refuse your role in any subsequent Special Event, you will be advised that you will not earn participation points and you will not gain a green activity bullet this time. You can only choose to change your role once every 2 years from the time you chose to change your role.

12. Not updating your RP App Sheet every end of season. This is more of a problem for your point counts. If you do not update your sheet and try to turn in Shrapnel or Trinkets that your sheet says you don’t have, you will be refused the service and advised to update your character sheet. We are not going to keep a running tally of your points unless a large influx of cheaters come about. Please remember to list your point-earnings at the bottom of your sheet with links to the evidence of the earning (comment earnings will be updated in the group monthly in a Follower Point/Trinket Point Journal) so that we know you are keeping track. Otherwise you may not be allowed to use your Shrapnel/Trinkets as you feel fit.

13. Inactivity. You will receive a reminder note after two months either in general or for the character(s) that are still inactive that you are required to submit a piece that counts toward Shrapnel every three months to have the character or if all characters are inactive you to stay in the group. Should no piece be entered by the end of that month the note was sent, your character(s) will be moved to Deceased and another note notifying you of what has happened and why will be sent to you. Members who is inactive in all their characters after three months will also be removed. You will not be allowed to rejoin until the next group opening.

14. Emergency Inactivity/Request for a Stay. Should an emergency or other event arise that you will not be able to submit anything within the three month period, you must state so within 72 hours of receiving your reminder note. If you emergency is medical or mechanical, you may be reinstated if you return and have been removed. However, repeat instances will result in a removal until the next opening. You can request a stay for other events within 72 hours of your reminder for only one season - meaning the next three month period you MUST submit your 1 item and Special Event participation for that time period. You can only request a stay once in a rolling year. This means the moment you request a stay, you cannot request again until the same date the following year. All others will be subject to the above inactivity rule.

15.   Exiting/Killing Characters. Characters must be exited from the RP zone in order to remain alive later on in the story. You may exit and enter characters as often as you'd like in the RP as long as they are not too old. You may also kill off your own characters so long as you are aware any killed characters may not be reused in the RP. Owners with no characters remaining after an exit will be removed from the group at the end of the month. Deviants who properly exit their characters before the end of their activity period and are removed for no remaining characters are allowed to rejoin with priority at the next opening. Properly exiting characters is not subject to any join restrictions.

16.   Disposable Characters. Each player may have up to four disposable characters at one time. Each disposable character has a maximum life span of six real life months. Disposable characters must be killed by the end of six months and will be moved to the Deceased Characters folder at the end of that time regardless of the activity. Disposable characters count as active characters and must still have an activity entry in order to not be removed in the first three months of their life. Disposable characters can be created for plot purposes as well as stand-in NPCs for other stories. Disposable characters do not count toward shrapnel use as they are due to die in the RP. Disposable characters cannot be exited from the RP zone. Disposable characters cannot be reintroduced later. Disposable characters cannot earn follower points or trinkets. These characters should be placed on the appropriate app but with a desaturated background. Remember dead character should be greyed out or labeled as DECEASED on their application.

17.   Pregnancy and Whelping Rules. UNREST has a unique set of rules for pregnancy of your character as well as whelping aging. For your character to become pregnant, you and the "father" of the whelps must have the listed Shrapnel on the Point System page for pregnancy. This is to make pregnancy more difficult since we have also expanded the ability to become pregnant. Mothers can choose to have pups without a mate - including "forced" matings. However, the mother must note the group that she is plotting a "forced" mating and this event cannot be RPed for the group for content purposes. You can, however, imply the event occurred. Mothers can also have multiple fathers if you have a cat, dog or coyote - a maximum of three. All fathers must contribute the same 5 or 15 shrapnel price tag for the pregnancy. All parents who wish to have offspring must contribute the cost of all offspring in single father pairings. Mothers of multiple father litters need only contribute for one whelp or if having multiple whelps for one father, for each additional whelp desired while all Males shall contribute for the number of offspring they desire that is allowed. Males who do not contribute by the end of the term will either have no whelp or a stillborn whelp, depending on the mother's choice. Three father litters are limited to 4/6 offspring (one/two genetic offspring each with a random choice for the mother in 4 offspring litters) and two father litters are limited to 4/6 offspring (two/three genetic offspring each if desired) depending on species limits. If one father pulls out of having offspring by the end of the term and another father can pay for a pup, they can have another pup with their genes when the litter is born. Mothers have first choice if they would like to have one pup in their litter, then each father. These pups will be free to the parents, but limited to one pup per contributing player. Any leftover pups must be adopted out to players. Creators have the right to revoke playing rights to adoptees who become inactive or booted. Other players who adopt a pup must pay the associated new character shrapnel fee for the character. Pregnancy terms are as follows: 3RL weeks for rodents/rabbits, 8RL weeks for cats, dogs, coyotes and wolves. The shrapnel for the young must be turned in by the assigned day for birth by parents - exactly that many weeks from the day pregnancy shrapnel is turned in. Those who are adopting whelps must turn in their allotted shrapnel by the time the whelp should be a juvenile for predators and a young adult for rodents. Whelps not paid for by that time will die and shrapnel spent on their birth will not be returned. Pregnancy Shrapnel is non-refundable; should no parent have enough shrapnel for whelps by the due date, then no whelps will be born (miscarriage) or they will be stillborn. Whelps must be aged as follows: All rodents/rabbits: 2 weeks as babies, 2 weeks as juveniles. Cats, dogs, coyotes and wolves: 3 months as babies, 3 months as juveniles. Once your character has reached young adult state you may age them according to the aging rules. Bear in mind, most species reach their maximum height by the time they reach young adult (including wolves). Certain breeds (such as large cat and dog breeds) however can take until they reach the adult age before they attain their maximum height. Mothers who want to have a plot-related deliberate miscarriage should still turn in pregnancy Shrapnel, but need only turn in half of the Shrapnel required. If a father is to be part of the plot, the father must turn in half of the Shrapnel as well.

18.   Aging Rules. Due to the timeline and fixed story element of UNREST, we wish that you do not age your character too fast or too slowly. You may not age your animal any faster than 50% of true aging time. Meaning for one year of age you can only reach that time no faster than 6 months. Animals may not age any slower than real-time age. However, there is a catch to this - Animals will use domestic timelines for ages - so rats and other rodents can live up to 4 years (6-8 for larger species) while the predator species can reach as old as 21 years. Animals exited at ages too close to the maximum age cannot return and are considered dead within the RP. Animals breaking the aging rules will have their earnings frozen until they are either returned to the age they should be at or aged up appropriately, whatever the case may be.

19. General Roleplay Rules. Only literate roleplay is allowed to count toward Shrapnel. You many use past or present tense, first, second or third person. However, it must be legible and must contain sentences. If you are concerned about your ability to meet these requirements, you can ask your partner to make any punctuation corrections or spelling corrections necessary or ask the founder to post-edit your piece. Post-editing should be done via Googledocs. Scripts should not be used unless converted to a Round. Rounds are allowed as long as both parties indicate they agreed to the Round and their sections are indicated by differing type face or color or different font setting (bold/italic/underlined). If a script is used for a Round, please save the original script in sta.sh and link to it in the artist's comments of the Round. Rounds are written works where all characters/interactions are included in a literary form of a story where every page or two is written by a different writer. Please be aware that Rounds count toward roleplay minimums but there is no pass minimum for Shrapnel, only a word count minimum (each player must have written a minimum of 400 words in the round for it to count.

This Journal will be updated as any other problems crop up, but this should be comprehensive enough to deal with most of the problems that often occur.
